Since IR remote control signals need "line-of-sight" to work, you will need this extender if the equipment you're trying to control is hidden out of sight such as in a cabinet or A/V Closet.
How This Works
This kit includes an IR receiver, a connecting block, and IR emitters. The IR receiver is a small device that you can mount on your HDTV's bezel or anywhere else in the room where you will want to point your remote. It is small and very easy to hide, but must be in line-of-sight to your couch (or wherever you will be sitting when using your remote control). This IR receiver receives your remote control's commands and sends the signal to the connecting block.
The connecting block then actively repeats and sends the same signal through all IR emitters connected to the block. You can tape the emitters directly to your equipment or simply fix them to a nearby shelf or wall as long as they are pointing at your device.

Jim Seaton The kit works well, with plenty of transmitters for remote equipment. The initial unit that I received failed after about a week, but Sewell sent a replacement without complaint. The replacement unit has worked without a problem, so far. I was able to swap out one element at a time with the failed unit, which confirmed that the receiver was the piece that had failed. The blue light stayed on all the time. Fortunately, these are available from Sewell at a lower cost than the entire kit, should the new one fail in the future. Good support from the company.

Michael Whitehead Not sure what to write, but I had a problem with the blaster and I called numerous times and nobody returned my phone call not even the salesman who sold me the blaster so the correspondence with the firm and communication is not above part.
