Match the native resolution of a different display when multiple displays are used. Perfect for use with switches, splitters, matrixes, and any other application using multiple displays with mismatched resolutions.
The Echo is a universal converter for HDMI input to HDMI output. The scaler up/down scaling employs black/white level expansion, color transition improvement, dynamic range expansion, blue stretch auto-detect and auto-convert.
Note: The Echo does not support HDCP 2.2 content.
Downscaler
Downscalers are often used in setups that use HDMI splitters to send the same image from one video source to multiple displays.
For example: If your video source can output 4k (2160p) but one of your displays only supports up to 1080p, the splitter will automatically send a 1080p resolution to all displays even if some of them can support 4k.
By using a downscaler between the splitter and the 1080p display, you can "trick" your HDMI splitter into thinking all your displays are 4k.
Upscaler
Upscalers are often used to help match signals between devices, such as with video recorders. For example, the final recording needs to be a 4k@60hz recording, but the video source is only 1080p@60hz. So the upscaler will help convert that signal to match the recorder's requirements while enhancing it using advanced techniques rather than simply stretching the pixels.
Some newer 4k TV's already have built-in scaling, so an upscaler is not needed, but a scaler can be useful for displays that don't have built-in scaling or the built-in scaling is not good enough.
