Why do you need an adapter?
To connect your computer to a TV, your computer needs to have an output port that matches one of the input ports on your TV. With so many connecter ports out there, it can be easy to find yourself in a situation where the ports on your TV don’t match the ports on your computer. That is why you need a converter.
There are two types of video adapters: active and passive. Active adapters need to be powered, either from an external power source or from your source device. Passive adapters don’t need that extra power.
Active products need that extra power because they can do more. Most active converters have upscaling hardware to improve your image quality. That means if your source device is a standard-definition analog and your display is full HD, that active converter will make the image more bearable.
