Other USB External DVI Cards In Stock: Due to high demand the high resolution model is currently out of stock. The Gefen USB External DVI Card is in stock. Also, check out the Sewell Standard Resolution DVI External Video Card as well if you plan on using a resolution of 1280x1024 or lower.

Update: Mac Drivers Released:Mac OSX BETA drivers (note: Mac driver supports only Intel-based Macs). See also the tech blog for a review of this driver which was tested in house here.

Also: The USB to DVI supports up to six simultaneous displays when using six adapters, including widescreen displays, extending your desktop and your horizons. See the article here.

Adding a quality DVI or VGA high resolution display through your USB port used to be science fiction. It is now science fact with the USB to DVI-I adapter. With onboard memory and video processor, it is really an external video card you attach to your computer with a USB cable.

It used to be that you could add a display via a USB port, but the refresh rate and video quality was lacking. With this USB to DVI display adapter, complete with VGA adapter, you can add either a DVI or VGA display that behaves just like a monitor connected to a standard video card. It operates at a high resolution of 1600 x 1200.

USB to DVI/VGA, 1280 x 1024 also available.

The secret is video compression algorithm inside this little external video card. It carrys a the top-of-the-line DisplayLink chip that guarantees smooth performance on your secondary displays. Memory this large allows the adapter to perform like a standard video card. The USB pipeline (maxing out at around 480 mbps) is more than enough bandwidth to provide top-notch video connectivity.

Tested In-House

As excited as we were for the release of this model, we tested it right when they came in. Using two simultaneously, the unit performed with flying colors.

We tested it on an unimpressive Dell Latitude D520 Centrino Duo with 512 RAM and it easily handled five USB to DVI adapters driving 19- to 21-inch flat screens (including widescreens). We also used the auxiliary display port on the laptop's docking station for a total of six simultaneous beautful displays, including the laptop's built-in display.

The USB to DVI External Video Card can handle six displays at a time if you have enough USB ports and possibly more depending on your system.

Windows Vista Compatible

The USB to DVI/VGA card is completely Windows Vista compatible with the included driver CD for both mirroring and extending your desktop. It performs both mirroring and extended desktop with Windows 2000 SP4, XP 32-bit SP2, and Vista perfectly.

The external video card itself is small and lightweight; about the size and weight of a deck of cards. It is grey, sleek, and unnoticeable when sitting behind your desk.
