Connect your Wii to an HDTV via an HDMI port with this adapter.

How This Works

connection diagram

The Wii HDMI adapter plugs directly into your Wii's cable port (the same port you use to connect the Wii video cable that is included with the Wii). After you have plugged it into this port, you will have an available HDMI port. You will also need to purchase an HDMI cable if you don't have one already.

This adapter creates a super-accurate, rich and vibrant 480p reproduction of your Wii's video signal. For the best performance, make sure your Wii's video output setting is switched to 480p (also called "Enhanced Definition" in your Wii Resolution settings). This will double the average refresh rate of your pixels and deepen the colors.

Audio Break-out

The Wii to HDMI adapter includes an audio break-out port that allows you to send stereo audio to another audio device of your choice (like an audio receiver). The port is in the form of 3.5mm stereo port.

Handles Both Audio and Video through HDMI Too

Since HDMI is an audio/video signal, this device rises to the task and handles both through the HDMI port. This conveniently allows you to run a single cable to your TV unless you wish to break the audio out separately using the adapter's break-out 3.5mm port.

Good picture, but it overheats

Pros: Great price point! The picture quality is exactly what I expected. Great for people with new TVs that have HDMI ports, and not so many component inputs.

Cons: Since installing this adapter, the Wii overheats. If I leave it connected overnight, the bottom of the Wii and the adapter become very hot, and the Wii won't turn on unless I unplug the unit and let it cool down.

Other: Be sure you are ordering the correct model - I thought I was ordering the newer one with upscaling, but somehow ended up with the older model.

HDMI Convert Works Great

Pros: Makes it easy to connect Wii to any HDMI device, such as TV or Home Theater.

Cons: Nothing bad to report.

Other: I don't know why the Wii doesn't ship with this converter - it's much nicer to deal with than those bulky cords.
