  • Which cable do I need to connect my NEC 1800 parallel via USB?
    • This adapter should do the trick for you - I verified that the NEC 1800 parallel interface is in fact centronics - this cable will plug into your USB port on one end and the printer on the other (no need to use another cable).

  • Will this product work with my HP Deskjet 722C to a new Dell Inspiron desktop, which only has USB ports?
    • If your printer has a 36-pin centronics connection (about 2 inches wide), it should work fine. If you are using Vista, you will want to check to see if HP has Vista drivers available for your printer.

  • I plan to buy a new Windows laptop which I assume will have only USB ports. I want to connect it to my HP LaserJet 5P printer. Will your SW-1302 do the job?

  • I have a Dell Vostro 200 with which I want to use an NEC Silent Writer Model 95. When I connect the SW-1302 I get dialog boxes which states new hardware has been connected and installed. The printer does not show up in my list of printers, the test page would not print when connected and obviously I don't have a viable connection. Any suggestions as to how I get this working? Or should I have asked if the NEC was compatible before I purchased the cable?
    • I don't have specific compatibility information on that printer, but a few things could be happening. The most likely is that you don't have the drivers for your printer installed, and if it is too old of a device the drivers might not be available for your current operating system. If the drivers were installed it would show up in your printers as offline even if it weren't connected.

  • I have a HP PSC 500 PRINTER THE BOOK SAYS I SHOULD USE A BI DIRECTIONAL PARALLEL IEEE 1284 -COMPLIANT PRINTER CABLE 1284-C CONNECTOR. question.CAN I USE YOUR CABLE WITH THE USB CONNECTOR PART SW.1302 FOR MY PRINTER WITHOUT CONFLICT?
    • Unfortunately, multi-function printers like the PSC500 cannot be adapted to run on USB. That printer must be plugged into a true parallel port for it to work. If you are trying to install the printer on a desktop computer you can install a card like this one: Parallel PCI card If you are trying to install it on a laptop that has a PCMCIA slot you can use this one: Parallel PCMCIA card If you are trying to install it on a laptop that has an ExpressCard slot you can use this one: Expresscard Parallel Card. Those should be able to provide full functionality with your printer.
