Overview

This unit has the Moschip chip set. We also have an 8-port USB to Serial with FTDI chips

This USB serial adapter instantly adds eight serial RS-232 communication ports to your system while using only one USB port. This provides instant connectivity with handhelds, modems, ISDN, TAs, PDAs, digital cameras, POS, serial printers, and any other serial device.

The adapter also features plug-and-play and hot plug features. When plugged in to your USB port, it is automatically detected and installed.

Don't forget to pick up a few serial cables!

Question:

How are the port numbers assigned in Win XP? Does your driver allow for more than the limit of com4?


Answer:

By default this will install to the next 8 available com port numbers. Windows can assign up to 256 Comm ports. You can change the port assignment, if necessary, from the Device manager.

Is this product compatible with Linux Operating Systems? Also, does this device need to be powered externally (if so, what is the minimum voltage/current requirement) ?


Answer:

Unfortunately we do not offer Linux support for this product, but it uses a popular chip set so you may be able to find drivers. It comes with a compatible power adapter with the correct voltage for external power.

Yes, you must install the included driver that will configure the cable as the 8 individual serial ports.
