Grandtec's USB to HDMI: first in the world

The world's first true USB to HDMI, the Grand HD Cinema sends video and audio information through one single USB port giving you true convenience and beautiful 720p high definition video, bridging the gap between your PC and TV.

Built on Display Link Technology

The secret lies within the Display Link Chip which does not put the burden of high bandwidth video on your USB cable, but rather coordinates video output with your computer's processor, making the impossible possible: High Bandwidth video from an inexpensive USB based external video solution. This similar solution is also what makes our USB to DVI External Video Card such an easy and popular way to add a monitor.

Integrated Audio

As an added convenience there is no need to route your computer's audio to your entertainment system's audio port, or to this unit. This unit handles the audio and video soley through the USB port, making your set-up a lot cleaner and easier.

Up to 6 Screens at a Time

If you're looking for an inexpensive way to set up an video wall (with either extended desktop or mirroring) for 720p high definition TVs, look no further. The USB to HDMI and included software allows 6 simultaneous screens and allows you to arrange them in any way you want.

Pros: Does a nice job of converting video on a PC to 720P high definition. It also sends Digital Dolby through so you can get surround sound, if your system is so equipped. With a DVD disc or high-quality streaming video (such as NetFlix), it works exactly as advertised.

Cons: On lower-quality video, like UTube or short TV clips on the web, there doesn't appear to be enough information in the video signal to allow upconversion. It also took a little while to get used to using the extended desktop on the TV, but that was more of a problem with me than the product.

Other: Overall, I'd give this product a 4.5 out of 5.0.

Pros: This is great - I can hook up my PC through a regular USB port to my HDMI TV. It takes care of the audio too (and doesn't require a separate cable).

Cons: At first I thought the audio didn't work, but then I followed the instructions in the manual and it worked fine.

Question:

I love the idea of this product! I just got a 720p LCD TV and I watch TV through my media center on my laptop because I get an interactive guide and dvr without paying for a cable box. I would like to continue to use my TV tuner in my laptop to watch TV, I want to use my new tv as a monitor basically. My processor is an AMD Turon64 1.8 GHz and I have heard that it equates to intel pentum 4 if its not better. My question is will my processor be able to handle the GrandTec USB to HDMI Video Converter and if not can I return it for a refund?

Answer:

Yes, your computer should be able to handle this adatper fine. If you have any problems with it, you can return the part for a full refund within 30 days.

Question:

I have a HD video camera with HDMI output. Can I use this device to capture real time video? Thanks, Norman

Answer:

This unit is designed to connect an HDMI display to your computer, not to capture video via HDMI. We have some PCI HDMI Capture cards or if you want to capture through USB you can use an Epiphan DVI USB Frame grabber.
