"Very fast shipping. Good job!"

Overview

Easily connect your DB25 parallel printer to your PC without having to pry open your PC to install a new card. The USB cable quickly plugs into any USB 1.1 or 2.0 port on your computer. Then simply connect your DB25 parallel cable from the adapter to your printer. If you want to go directly from USB to your printer, use the USB to parallel centronics adapter.

Please note that this adapter only works for printers and not other devices (including "All-in-one printers with scan/fax functions), such as product keys. Consider a true parallel port for your laptop or PC.

Pros: Super the product was required for my old HP laserjet 1100. I read about it on Sewell. The product is working superb. Though I went to Best buy & even called HP. They had no clue how I could resolve. Sewell did my job & price was very reasonable. Packing & timing were fine too. THANK YOU.

Cons: Plz be explicit about your stuff. It would have save me trip to BEST BUY. :)

Other: This was my first attempt with Sewell & I am truly please and will share this info with friend and others.

Seems to work, both Win 7 and Mac OSX

Pros: The Mac setup was virtually automatic, and it worked well. For the Win 7 setup, it was important to follow the instructions here on the website.

Cons: I actually haven't used it much since getting it working (now I need to fix the printer itself), so I can't speak to reliability/longevity, but I see no reason to doubt it. If that changes, I will write another review.

Other: It should be handy for getting more life out of my old HP LaserJet 4. I'm glad to have found this company.

Question:

I have an HP 1100 LaserJet I need cable to go from the printer cable to USB. This is not a Centronics connector This is a DB25 pin male

Answer:

Yes, this would connect to the original cable that came with your 1100. It should work for you (unless you are uising the all-in-one series 1100 with scanner/copier funcctions)

Question:

You said part # SW-4518 works for the 1100, and not with 1100a (all-in-one). Then, what would I use for the 1100a (all-in-one) which also has the DB25 male pin on the end of its printer cable?

Answer:

All-in-one parallel printers are never supported by USB conversions. There are parallel print servers you can buy which support multi-function printers, and that is probably the best option if you need multi function capability out of your existing printer on a new computer. Often(but not always) these usb conversions will still work with the printer functionality of the all in one printer, but they will never work with the scanner functionality.

Question:

I have an HP model 4ML printer connected to my PC using your SW-4518 USB-to-DB25 cable. The computer detects the device when I plug it in, but the printer does not respond. Do you have any suggestions?

Answer:

Here is the basic troubleshooting for this cable: start with the adapter unplugged on both ends. With the computer ON, plug in the USB end of the cable. In your device manager (which can be found through the control panel) look under the Universal serial bus section for "USB printing support" or something similar. If it is there without any exlamation points or question marks next to it, the cable is working fine. Next plug your printer into the cable. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your printer installed on your computer. Go to your 'printers' folder, where you should see your printer. If it says it is offline, right click on it and select properties. Go to the ports tab. "Virtual printer port" or "USB printing support" should be selected. If you have multiple ports with that name, delete all but the most recent and select it. Click OK and then try printing again. 9 out of 10 times these steps fix people's problems.
