Question:

Please forgive me if my question sounds dumb but I an new to this! My computer only has one VGA port which is currently connected to the pc monitor. When I unplug it & connect it to the tv, will I see the mouse cursor on the tv and be able to use it in the same way as when the pc monitor was hooked up?

Answer:

Yeah, the idea behind the PC to TV Converter is that everything you're doing on your computer, whether it's watching movies, doing power point presentations or just playing solitaire, will be projected onto your TV screen.

Yes, you can definitely buy longer Audio/Video cables to use with this product. here is a 12 foot set that would work no problem at all for you: http://sewelldirect.com/Premium-Gold-Series-Composite-RYW-Audio-Video-Cable-12-ft.asp

Question:

My TV has both S-video and Component Video inputs. I understand that Component Video is the better of the two. Does this adapter (SW-23000) convert from VGA to Component Video, or would I need a different adapter?

Answer:

The SW-23000 does not support component video. You would need something like our SW-5693 to do so, we have a few options though besides that one only.

Question:

can i use this for connecting a desktop to tv? can i record what is sent to the tv by the tv dvd recorder?

Answer:

You can definitely use the SW-23000 to display your computer on the TV as long as your computer has a VGA connection on it and as long as your TV has either an S-Video or Composite RCA connection available. As for the recording it should work.

Question:

will this work with my mac mini? and besides the component cable(thats the one with the three colors) do i need anything else? If not what do you recommend

Answer:

This will work with a mac mini but you will need a Mini Displayport to VGA adapter. Also, this does not have component connections, they are composite. Component are High Definition and composit are just standard definition. If your TV is not high definition then this has everything you need to use it except for the mini displayport to vga adapter (SW-22337). If you have an HD TV then i would recommend getting the VGA to HDMI converter (SW-9393) but you would still need the SW-22337.

Question:

I have a 50 inch hitachi plasma tv and an acer laptop. What hook up would I need to get a sharp picture such as a movie.

Answer:

Since you are using an HD TV this product will work for you to get a descent picture on your TV while watching a movie. Other things like text won't be as clear though. If you are concerned about the quality of the picture then i would recommend 2 products, one being our SW-9393 (VGA to HDMI converter with 720p scaling) or second our SW-20505 (VGA to HDMI converter with 1080p scaling). If you are wondering what scaling means you can read this Article to help you better understand what all is being done and how scaling helps the picture look better.

Question:

My old Dell computer only has one VGA port. Does your SW23000 converter have another pass through VGA port on the back so I can plug my computer monitor into it? Or can I only be plugged into my monitor OR the TV converter?

Answer:

This converter does have a VGA pass through. You will connect this converter to the PC and then connect your monitor to the back of the converter and get the same exact image on both the TV and the Computer Monitor.

Question:

How long can the composite AV cable be without signal degradation with the SW-23000 going to a CRT TV? I can use my main PC with a 75' or 100' AV cable. Otherwise I need a 2nd PC just for the TV. Thanks, Mike

Answer:

Since composite is an analog signal, it handles long distances fairly well, but it is also difficult to give specifics about the upper limits. Technically any analog cable introduces some loss, but in normal circumstances it is negligible. Over long runs that loss can manifest in a loss of sharpness, static or the colors losing some of the brightness. However, if you are using a high quality composite cable and if you avoid sources of interference like motors, power wiring, microwaves etc. I would expect that 75 - 100 feet should still transfer a good image.
