Light-Link USB, USB 3.0 over Fiber

The Light-Link is a USB 3.0 Fiber Optic Cable. Because it uses fiber, it can send the signal instantly with no perceptible latency at much longer distances than regular USB extenders.

Note: This cable is only compatible with USB 3.0 devices. We are working on creating a cable that is backwards compatible, so check back soon!

How it works

The converters inside the cable heads convert incoming electrical signal into optical on one end, and back into electrical on the other end. The Light-Link is composed of two fiber cables and two copper cables. The copper cables are used for non-data information such as +5v power for USB devices. The fiber strands carry all the data information.

The light travels down the fibers using internal reflection, which allows the light to bounce off the cable walls similar to a bobsled. Light travels extremely fast (186,000 miles a second) so the signal arrives almost instantly without losing any quality.

Eliminates possible points of failure

In a typical long distance USB extension setup, you have many potential points of failure (source to sender, receiver to device, an RJ45 cable in between, and two power adapters for the baluns). The Light-Link extends the signal with zero latency and without having to worry about baluns or power adapters.

Five Stars, so far!!

I purchased this cable for a very specific use. I will be using it to transfer hi-speed video data from my backyard observatory to my basement office. From these files, I should be able to produce very detailed images of the sun, moon, and planets. The cable will travel about 100 feet through the ceiling and then underground conduit. Fingers crossed that it all works properly, but so far the cable is sending super fast signals from camera to computer.
I’m curious, however. Is there an operating temperature range for this cable?

That will work fine at temperatures between 0C and 50C.
30 ft USB Optical - It works But, extra parts will be required !

You will need a USB A to micro cable for power, And another USB A male to B female cable (6 inch or so) because the end on this thing is so large it will not fit next to any other USB port without blocking it. And the power blocks a port below this adapter as well.
I am using this to connect a built in hub on a Touch screen monitor, with a junk Razor Keyboard connected. This cable did not work until I connected the power to it. But once that was done Everything works Great. No delay, No more reconnects, Just a fast steady, stable connection finally ! YaY !
Great Cable Just wish they included the extra cables needed, And considering the price they should have !

Works for Oculus Quest VR Link

I was shocked. This actually works as an Oculus Quest Link cable. Little to no latency and no compression artifacts. The thin and light cable is great for cable management. PCVR with 50 foot cable! Sweet!
