Pros: Installed easily under Vista. Prints to a Dot Matrix receipt printer on LPT2 from DOS POS software. Saved my client $$$. One of the few PCI Parallel cards I've found with Vista drivers.

Cons: None for this application. Haven't tested it any further.

Pros: The service was great. Fast response, came in good shape. Product was exactly as pictured.

Cons: The product does not fit my computer! I was not aware there are so many different sized cards for the same thing. One of the reviews stated my scenerio exactly, and I foolishly thought it was the right part. Now I am stuck with a part that doesn't fit, and still not able to plug in my dongle.

Other: This was my fault. I was in a hurry to solve my crisis of no parallel port, and didn't research it far enough. Now I need to find the right part to replace it. I would definely buy other merchandise from your company, but I will research better next time.

Works great. Have an older laser printer with only parallel connection. This card took care of the problem.

The SW-1473 card was easy to install in my PC with Vista. It has given me the I/O interface to some old software that I wanted.

This was the third parallel card I purchased to add a parallel port to connect my LaserJet 4 printer to my upgraded Win 7 64bit computer. It works great with the appropriate Vista 64 driber on the included CD!!!! Thanks Sewell, count me as a satisfied customer.

Questions

Question:

The modem connected to the (onboard) serial ports on my pc do not work and I do not know why. Device manager says all the ports are working properly. I installed a serial pci card and my modem connected to it works fine. Now, my hp laserjet 1100 connected to the lpt1 port also does not work. I strongly suspect it is the same problem with the serial ports. I plan to add a parallel pci card. What do you think? Which card will you recommend?

Answer:

The SW-1473 is a popular and reliable card. Personally I prefer the SW-6406 from Lava. It has a simpler driver installation and a more robust chipset, but it is more expensive.

Question:

I recently purchased a new Dell computer, OS Windows XPS. Because it has no parallel port, I can not connect my scanner, DVC video capture device, or my 3D Studio Max Hardware Lock, all which are 25 Pin IEEE 1284. Which Paralelle PCI Card would work best for all peripheral devices I mentioned. SW-4301-2, SW-1473, SW-4301-1, or SW-1163? Thank you in advance.

Answer:

All of those Parallel PCI cards that you mentioned install and act as true parallel LPT ports. All of them should work fine with all of those devices you mentioned. The only differences are the brands and how many ports they have.

Question:

I have upgraded to a Gigabyte GA-M61SME-S2(rev. 2.x) Motherboard. It cannot accept my scanner's old SCSI card with 25 pin (female) Parallel Port cable connection. I need a new SCSI card that is PCI 2.3 compliant AND that will work with this Mustek 12000SP scanner. The computer runs Windows XP Home Edition and Linux. Do you make such a card?

Answer:

This card (and all of our other 25 pin cards) are for parallel, not the 8 bit SCSI connections. If your scanner needs a SCSI controller, I'm afraid that we do not have a PCI card that will work for you. Most 25 pin scanners are in fact parallel, and should work with this card. While we do not offer Linux support for this card Moschip (the chipset manufactuerer) does have some Linux drivers.
