Questions

Question:

I have an old Gateway computer, and purchased a Serial ATA internal hard-drive by mistake instead of an IDE which is all it supports. At work, we have a cheap version of this, but whenever I try to boot off of that hard drive after imaging the other hard drive, the screen locks up, and I have to force shut down. I'm not sure if its the converter that is bad, or if its the harddrive that is having the problem.

Answer:

Have you reformatted the old hard drive yet? You cant boot off a hard drive that was used on as the primary drive on another computer, because the hard drive is configured to work with your old systems hardware.

Question:

THIS ITEM IS NAMED IDE(DRIVE) TO SATA(CONNECTOR)..THEN GOES ON TO DESCRIBE IT AS THE OPPOSITE EG SATA DRIVE TO IDE CONNECTOR. WHICH IS IT?

Answer:

Naming conventions vary, we tend to describe adapters as computer to device, however this adapter will let ou connect a Serial ATA drive to an IDE ribbon cable to your motherboard. If you need the opposite adapter, please see our SW-1615
