Overview

Clean home theater set-ups (especially set-ups with wall-mounted HDTVs) can require you to store your video equipment (like Blu-Ray players, DVD players, TIVOs, etc.) in a remote place like a closet or another room. Since your remote controls require line-of-sight to control your equipment, you won't be able to use them unless you can send the remote signal which is an infrared (or IR) signal to your equipment with a wired extender.

This IR Receiver is used in tandem with any combination of different IR Emitters and connecting blocks. The receiver is mounted on or near your TV However in most cases you will need them in addition to a IR Receiver. If you're looking to expand your already existing setup then this is what you're looking for. If you're starting from square one, check out our IR Reciever Kits.

Pros: The price. Light being emitted by the plasma or LED TV did not bother it in the least. Performance is perfect!

Cons: None

Other: This part is in the SewelL BlastIR Kit. I have installed these kits in 2 different homes. Works perfect!

Weak Wiring

Pros: I purchased this item to replace the same item that failed due to the wires that connect to the receiver. The wires are so thin that any pressure or pulling can cause them to break off or disconnect from the contacts. By thin I'm talking about 3 micro-copper wires for each of three leads. So why would I buy another of the same item that failed me the first time? Because it works! If you don't pull the wires like I did by moving my receiver around from one place to another, this goody works just fine.

Cons: I would like to see the Sewell brand offer better quality for this item, in terms of wiring. If that were the case, I may buy other Sewell brand items.

Other: We are sorry that you had problems with the receivers, We haven't heard of this problem but I assume most customers don't frequently move the reciever. I will pass it on to the product manager and we should be able to resolve it in future orders. All of the parts are covered by a one year warranty, if you contact our support deparment (800) 709-1345 they can set up a replacement for the failed original and can probalby get you a refund for the replacement that you purchased.
