Pros: Easy set up, works as intended. Great add-on to connect Wii to AVR HDMI connection

Cons: Non.

Other: Not too many people know about this gadget. My contacts at Best Buy said it was not possible to connect analog to HDMI, WRONG!

Pros: Purchased the product because my new HDTV only has one component input but 4 HDMI inputs. Converter works well. Have been able to connect Wii and other component electronics (as well as my old PS2 for some games - not all games can be used but it is a programming not a converter issue).

Cons: It can be challenging to find the settings on some electronics such as gaming consoles so the converter works.

Other:

Brightness issues

Worked great! Simple, small, and easy to connect. Great quality video. Much better than throwing away old equipment that still works fine.

Question:

I recently purchased this product off of eBay. I'm using it with my XBOX 360 (an older generation, the one without a HDMI port on the back). I recently purchased a LCD TV with HDMI ports, and I wanted to purchase this to take advantage of my HDMI input on my HD TV. So I hooked it up correctly, and load up my XBOX. There is a lot of flickering to black and a lot of flashing, animations aren't smooth. My XBOX is unplayable with this converter, so I have to go back to just using the component input, not getting true HD. There is also a lot of static on the unit, half of the time I touch the unit, I get a static shock... Could that be the problem? It is a carpet floor, I tried putting the unit off the floor, but the image is still blinking and flashing making this useless to me, along with the $60 HDMI cable I had to purchase! Please let me know if I'm doing something wrong. The picture I get IS 1080p on my TV, it looks great, but the flickering and blinking to black makes anything unviewable and unplayable. Thanks!!!

Answer:

This is not normal. It sounds like there may be a defective unit in your set up. If you suspect that the converter is defective we can set up a return and or exchange to get this working properly for you.

Question:

Can this unit work with an audio-only source (e.g. CD Player analog output), or must there by valid video present?

Answer:

There has to be a video present. I decided to test this to see if it was possible. i have it hooked up to my ipod going into the L and R audio on the converter. no sound would come through untill i also connected the component video source.(so at the moment i have a movie on my screen but the audio is that of my ipod.) however, this idea is possible with the SW-9393. Your TV will have a blue screen, but the audio comes through with no problem. VGA and Component to HDMI
