Overview

View video, games, pictures, documents, and more from your computer (With VGA output) to your HDMI HDTV with perfect, crisp, and clear 1080p resolution.

Scaling

Scaling is an essential feature to any active video converter that is getting its video source from a computer and putting it on an HDTV because HDTVs and typical computer monitors are shaped differently (often a different aspect ratio), and support different resolutions. This scaler is made for this task, fitting your computer card's resolution to your HDTV with minimal need for you to mess with it.

Atlona's made this easy for you-- all of the cables are built-in. Connect the USB cable to your computer (for power), connect the 3.5mm audio cable for audio, and the VGA cable for video. The HDView will combine it all for you and feed it directly to your HDMI TV.

This converter/scaler is designed for North American use only (USA and Canada). It only outputs 60Hz (NTSC) which is supported in North America only.

Pros: gives a pretty good picture;but for the money I paid,I thought it would be better.

Cons: perhaps a built in signal booster would improve color tones and get rid of some of the horizontal rolling lines.

Other: all in all it works pretty well. I wan't another one that gives a picture as good as my vizio blu-ray. know where I can get one that I can afford???

Pros: Easy setup and works very well. Makes full use of whatever your TV has to offer in the way of picture and sound.

Cons: HDMI cable to connect this device to the TV is not included. Get one that's long enough to give you some options on where you're going to put your computer. You'll probably need an audio extension, a VGA extension or a USB extension if these ports on your computer are not close to each other.

Other: My flat screen is an older Hitachi and it has no PC input mode. Found I needed to download a software upgrade from the Hitachi site to get an input selection that works. So if you can't get this to work with your flat screen, Google the TV manufacturer and see if they have a site for downloads. HItachi also had an instruction download that tells how to install the new upgrade on the TV. Really easy. Had to fiddle with the Display setup in Window's Control Panel to find a resolution that the TV could find. "No Input" is the TV's prompt if the display signal from the computer isn't what the TV is expecting. My problems took about an hour to solve on the old set but on a newer one with an input selection of "PC", this only takes about five minutes to set up. Using my 55" Plasma for a computer monitor is pretty nice. I use a cordless keyboard and mouse and keep the laptop next to the TV so there are no cables between me and the TV. Great for NetFlix, You Tube, home videos, DVDs, Games, web browsing.
