4x4 HDMI Matrix over Cat5 or Cat6 (4x4:4)
The Spider Extend is an HDMI matrix with 4 inputs, 4 Cat5/6 extension outputs (with optional POE) as well as 4 local outputs that mirror the content of the 4 remote screens-- a perfect setup for controlling and monitoring remote screens in a control room. You'll be able to control and view all of your equipment with IR, RS232, and TCP/IP while also being able to manage EDID.
What's a 4x4:4 HDMI Matrix?
Spider Extend gives you 4 HDMI inputs, 4 HDMI output ports (local) as well as 4 RJ45 ports meant to connect Cat5e or Cat6 cables with 4 receiver units for those network cables. You can do true 4x4 Matrix switching, splitting, and routing with these 4 inputs and 4 outputs without using the Cat5/Cat6 extension option. If you do use the Cat5/Cat6 extension option, those 4 local HDMI ports will simultaneously show the same audio/video content that the remote screens are showing.
Cat6 Extending Recommended
This unit is able to accept up to 4 input source devices and send those signals to any 4 displays. Each output can be extended 70m (230ft) using Cat6 cable. Alongside each UTP output there is a local HDMI output so you can view all of your extended displays from one location.
Control with IR Remote Control (Supports Logitech Harmony Remotes), RS-232 or over IP
The Matrix does include a remote control but the real power of IR is unlocked with a Logitech Harmony Remote which can turn you into an entertainment master with absolute full control of your devices. With the ease of Logitech and the tech of Sewell, you have just entered into the next level of entertainment.
RS-232 and IP control can also come in handy when controlling a complex network of video sources and displays. Using this interface you can save custom labels for each input and output, as well as save custom configurations to switch between instantly.
POE, EDID, and IR Management
Each receiver is powered through POE from the main matrix, meaning you do not need to add another power supply at your display location. Each receiver has a DC 12V port if needed though. The EDID handshake can also be managed to ensure that all displays work properly with your sources. In addition to these features, each receiver supports bi-directional IR to control any device from either end of the extension.
