A high-performance 4K Matrix that will give can finally give you the pure satisfaction from how well it performs. This is a great solution for home theaters, but it also works wonderfully for HDTV retail and show sites, information distribution, signage, data control centers, presentations, and more.
Taking from all of your HDMI inputs, the Matrix extracts from the Audio Return Channel to a separate audio system. This takes the hassle of having to switch audio sources and cables by seamlessly giving the ability to take any HDMI source from your Matrix to the same audio system.
4K 30Hz vs 4K 60Hz
As our TVs get bigger and bigger, so does the perceived difference between refresh rates. This cable supports 4K 60Hz while our standard cable supports 4K 30Hz, but why should you care?
The main spec to look for when trying to find a true-HDMI 2.0 Matrix (including HDMI 2.0a and HDMI 2.0b) is the bandwidth spec-- it should be 18 Gbps. If an HDMI Matrix claims to pass this bandwidth in each channel, it can achieve full 4K 60Hz 4:4:4 chroma.
HDCP 2.2 and Backwards Compatible
Like any active HDMI component, you're going to want to start thinking about future HDCP versions. This Matrix gives you the new HDCP 2.2 standard but is also backwards compatible to earlier versions. Since it does supports HDCP 2.2, you can be sure that it will continue to work after you upgrade your displays.
EDID management becomes easy and straight-forward with a simple and intuitive web interface.
One of the most important reasons to manage EDID manually is to ensure that you are treating each HDTV connected to the Matrix uniquely. If you are splitting a single source on two displays that support different resolutions, timing, color, etc., most splitters/matrixes will send the lowest-common setting to all connected HDTVs because they are designed to mirror the same content on all screens. This is very undesireable if there is a large high-resolution screen and a low-resolution screen connected to the same splitter/matrix since you'll be getting the low-resolution specs on the high-resolution screen.
EDID management allows you to treat every HDTV uniquely by entering in the specs that you know they can support. The Spider Pro series also has an EDID learning feature that makes it so you don't always need to manual input the EDID information for each display. One of the advantages of manually inputing EDID info is to force certain resolutions, refresh rates, color specs, etc. if you know exactly what you want.
IP & RS-232 Control
IP control/RS-232 control is an option that allows you to control the switching and splitting from a distance on a computer, but it also includes a few advanced features that give you a lot more control over the exact specs of the video you send to each individual HDTV, and can even enable faster switching.
The receivers and senders have an included IR cable making IR controls easy and intuitive. The HL21 can also be controlled through RS-232 with a connection either with a sender unit or hook up with the Gigabit Network switch giving easy access to multiple saved configurations.
