  • I have a motorola v170 from tracfone. You're saying I can just put the sim card from it into the modem and use it for internet access?
    • Yes, you can do that as long as your provider runs on one of the supported GSM bands listed in the product specifications. You will have to make sure you have a data plan associated with that SIM card or you will likely be charged very high rates for the service from your provider.

  • I am looking for USB GSM/GPRS modem for SMS messaging. My operating system is redhat Linux. Do you carry any models that are well adopted on Linux RedHat?
    • Unfortunately we have not extensively tested this adapter with Linux, and the Manufactuere only supoprts Windows drivers. There has been some linux development for the Falcom Samba chips like our SW-5855

  • I would like to use this for remote communications for energy management systems (EMS) via a modem. Can I use the SIM card in my Motorola i560 NextTel phone and insert it into this then call systems as if i was using a regular land line?
    • This should work for you. Your computer can dial out through this adapter, similarly to how it would communicate throught a standard phone line. It will however be treated as a data call, so you will want to check with Nextel about how your plan deals with data calls.
