Surprise - Ok, perfectly

Pros: I was not very confident, when I bought that cable. I have a old Laser Colour HP4500 with a parallel port. Suprise install the cable, Vista recognise the cable, no driver to add, just add the printer with USB port (add printer setup), and work the first time. Gladly surprise, thanks

Pros: Great cable. I was worried when I bought this cable that it would not work for my new Windows 7, 64 bit computer. However, if you choose USB virtual port, it finds the drivers (which I had previously downloaded) and installs the printer perfectly.

Cons: It could be 2-5 feet longer.

SamS - Parallel 2 USB Adapter

Pros: Thought I'd lost the use of my HP LaserJet 4 P Printer (new computer's don't have parallel ports). This adapter 'saved the day'

Cons: HP's on line instructions (to get the printer driver) had me in a "loop". I followed their links twice to the driver I wanted and it kept jumping back to two or three previous links. But when I closed my Internet connection, Windows 7 said that I had a driver waiting to be installed. Once that was done, it worked as advertised.

Other Comments: My 4P printer had the exact connection this adapter provided. I did not need a parallel 'extension cord' as another HP LaserJet owner posted about his purchase.

Pros: It works as advertised. I'm printing from my HP LaserJet 6L without issue.

Cons: Windows 7 couldn't automatically detect the drivers when it was plugged in.

Other Comments: I ended up having to go into the 'Devices and Printers' control panel, select the IEEE printer that was grayed out, goto Properties, select the Hardware tab, double click the 'HP LasetJet 6L' in the list (I think it was actually called 'Hewlett-PackardHP Laserjet 6L'), click change settings, and then use the Update Driver button. It was able to download the required driver from Windows Update and this got me up and running.

Pros: This cable works perfectly. Plugged it in, driver loaded in about 3 seconds (using vista pro) and printer was up and running in about 2 minutes. Couldn't have been easier.

Cons: None
