  • I have a HP PSC 500 PRINTER THE BOOK SAYS I SHOULD USE A BI DIRECTIONAL PARALLEL IEEE 1284 -COMPLIANT PRINTER CABLE 1284-C CONNECTOR. question.CAN I USE YOUR CABLE WITH THE USB CONNECTOR PART SW.1302 FOR MY PRINTER WITHOUT CONFLICT?
    • Unfortunately, multi-function printers like the PSC500 cannot be adapted to run on USB. That printer must be plugged into a true parallel port for it to work. If you are trying to install the printer on a desktop computer you can install a card like this one: Parallel PCI card If you are trying to install it on a laptop that has a PCMCIA slot you can use this one: Parallel PCMCIA card If you are trying to install it on a laptop that has an ExpressCard slot you can use this one: Expresscard Parallel Card. Those should be able to provide full functionality with your printer.

  • I have an epson stylus color 800 which uses a parallel cable which has 36 copper? connectors 18 on each side which almost meet at the middle of a blue plastic piece in the middle. the blue plastic thing has NO holes, only the overlapping almost touchin
    • Yes, that is the Centronics (B) connection. It works similarly to a tongue-and-groove connector, rather than the common pin and holes. The SW-1302 should work well for you

  • Will this adapter work with a USB print server? Such as Netgear WGPS606.
    • No, I'm sorry, this is not compatible with the Netgear WGPS606. This USB to Parallel Adapter will only work when plugged directly into your computer and since the print server would go wirelessly to multiple computers, it will not work.

  • I have a HP Laser Jet 4L and a Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop. I purchased the adapter and installed it. The laptop sees the printer cable, but I cannot print any documents to the HP. Any suggestions?
    • The 4L is a popular laser printer and we have had many customers use it with the SW-1302. First I would try unistaling the printer from your system (as well as any additional copies), then disconnecting all of the cables. Connect the SW-1302 to your computer, then the printer. Then turn the printer on and your Dell should start a new hardware wizard. If you are still unable to connect to the printer you can contact technical support at 1-800-709-1345 option 1.

  • Hello -- I recently upgraded my Vaio with parallel port to a Dell Latitue D820 which only has USB or serial ports. I have a HP LaserJet 5MP printer that works great even though it is quite old. Will you product work on my D820 to connect to the HP5MP and other than connecting cables will I need to do anything else? Will open box save me a few bucks or should I order new? Thank you.
    • Yes, this should be compatible with your printer. The open box adatpers have the same warranty as a retail versions of the product, so there is little risk.
