PC Tech - Best Adapter Available

Pros: The only USB to IDE adapter that works reliably!

Cons: The USB cable is too short. More expensive than others, especially if you factor in the USB extension cable needed to make this more convenient to use.

Other Comments: We have purchased the other USB-IDE adapters that Sewell offers, as well as models several other vendors and this is the only one that works consistently. All the others work some of the time with some drives, but more often than not, you have to plug and unplug the USB cable in many time to get the computer to recognize the drive if you can get it to recognize the drive at all. We have also experienced problems when doing large file transfers with a number of the other brands, but never have had a problem with this one. So if you place any value on your time this is the one to get, even though you will need to keep a short USB extension with it because the cable is so short. I spoke recently to the tech who had originally recommended this adapter to us and his experience has been the same as ours. Would have given it 5 stars if the cable was longer.

T - As advertised

Pros: Simple to use, windows recognized the drive without a hitch

Cons: Not much in the way of instruction, so not for novices. The IDE to USB cable could be longer too. Loading the driver was an adventure - not sure it ever did load, but it wasnt necessary as my XP OS picked up the drive right away.

Other Comments: Great for the price - durability would remain to be seen
