    • Unfortunately as far as we know that is impossible. Serial is not nearly advanced or fast enough to control USB devices. We suggest using a USB add-on card to give you computer USB functionality.

  • I have a palm pilot with a USB TYPE B connector on it. I also have a 9 pin serial connection (male) on the back of my HP Thin Client. I need a USB TYPE B to Serial adapter cable. Ideally, the serial side fo the adapter would be female. Can you advise? Thank you.
    • unfortunately serial on the computer side cannot be made to convert a USB signal. Serial just isn't capable of it. The only way to get USB ports on a computer that doesn't already have them is through an expansion card.

  • Hi. Is the other end of the adapter a "female USB connector"? The reason I'm asking coz I can't see the back of the adapter from this image. thanks.
    • This has a Male USB connector. This device allows you to add a serial port through the USB port on the computer. This cable will plug into the USB port on a computer and add a 9 pin serial port that can be used to communicate with serial devices. It will not work the other direction.
