jc - Great gadget for Eee PC
7/27/2009 9:58:46 AM
4 stars

Pros: 1) fast install in XP 2) small size and light weight 3) perfect for hooking my old serial modem (US Robotics 56k) and parallel printer (Canon BJ-100) up to my new Eee PC netbook (10.1") for home use 4) works great!

Cons: if my printer and modem are not both turned on before i power up the computer, XP does not correctly assign their ports and then neither peripheral works (this was annoying but relatively easy to fix simply by turning on printer & modem before powering up computer!)

Other Comments: could not use the USB ports for external DVD (Lite On) or HDD (Memorex) but may work okay with self-powered (NOT bus-powered) drive models

MKuhn - Vista feedback
6/2/2009 11:22:06 AM
3 stars

Pros: Slender, compact unit that fits in small areas, works well on Windows XP.

Cons: When doing a test install on my system with Windows Vista I got the infamous Blue Screen which lead to well over an hour of troubleshooting and resorting my system.

Other Comments: Sewell Note. Included drivers work for Vista 32 Bit ONLY. For Vista 64 bit, please download the updated driver.

Robin - Works great

5 stars

Pros: Needed this to hook up an old old HP 882 C printer with a parallel port to my new Dell XPS without a parallel port. Works very well, and no problems at all. Very easy to set up.

Cons: none

ITK - Works--but...
7/24/2008 3:52:10 PM
2 stars

Pros: Compact way to add ports

Cons: Loads drivers each time you reboot--it's endless with all the OKs & mouse clicks. Also caused me to lose my internet connection on my Acer laptop

Other Comments: Can't recommend this unless you are desperate for more ports. I suggest a serial to USB adaptor if that is all you need.
