  • I have two computers and want to share a printer and an external hard drive that is uesed to backup data each night. All involved peripherals are USB 2.0; will this switch work, and if not do you carry one that would?

  • I want to share a wireless keyboard and a wireless mouse with three non-networked computers. The wireless receivers are USB. The three computers are about a 10 foot run of wire away from the two USB wireless receivers, so I have to use some USB extender cables, probably between the receivers and the USB switch. Is a SW-2205 4x4 USB switch going to work in this configuration? Is there a manual switch available for this configuration?
    • The Auto-Share Switch is not capable of automatically sharing anything besides a printer. This means that you would effectively be using the switch as a manual switch. In order to do so with this item you would need to install the included software on each computer and you may run into problems trying to control that software when it's your keyboard and mouse you are trying to switch.

      I would recommend using a 4x1 manual share switch to get it to each computer. If one USB port is not enough for your keyboard and mouse you can plug a standard USB hub into it to split that one port into four.

  • I have just recently purchased the four-pc auto share switch. i feel the software could be improved alittle bit. Will there perhaps be a software update ?
    • The manufacturer of that part has not told us that they have any plans to update the software at this point. If updated software is released we will make it available on our website, but it is entirely dependent on if the manufacturer releases any.
