  • Can I mix active and passive cables to achieve a distance of 50 to 60 feet?
    • Yes, you can mix the two types of cables as long as there is no length of cable longer than 16 feet without a booster. Generally you would use 3 boosted cables like the SW-1202 and one passive cable up to 16 feet at the very end of the chain that would connect to your device.

  • I do need an Active USB "2.0" extension cable, and it seems this is what I have to buy. But I found another model which is 'Gefen Active USB 2.0 Extension Cable' in your website. The price difference is really HUGE. The Gefen is three times more expensive than this one. It seems both products work same. What's the REAL differences between them? Is this product really for USB 2.0?
    • The difference is actually due to due branding. Gefen is a very good brand. These cables do work very well and they are just a generic brand. So basically it just depends if you want a Gefen brand cable. Both cables from our testing work equally as well.

    • Yes, these cables do not require and software or driver installation to function and will work regardless of the OS.

  • May I use 3 Active extension outside?
    • These are not rated for outdoor use. If you need to run them ourdoors we suggest incasing them, perhaps in PVC pipe, to protect them from the elements.
