Installation

Plug the male end of the FireWire extension cable into the FireWire port on your computer. DO NOT plug the male end into your peripheral if you are connecting to a 6-pin FireWire device. If you do, you may not make a connection between the device and the computer.

You do not need to install any drivers for the cable. If you are plugging it into a computer with a supported operating system, it will recognize the cable without the installation of any drivers.

FireWire device works sporadically or not at all

If your device works properly without the extension cable, but doesn't work reliably when using the extension cable, follow these instructions:
  • Make sure the extension cable is plugged into the FireWire port on your computer and not the device. The device cable must always be at the end of the chain (i.e. plugged directly into the device) and not in the middle or at the beginning (FireWire port on computer) of the chain.
