This item will be permently installed into a room where diferent users will connect their laptop to a HD15 connector on a wall plate. I will need to power this device with a power supply, what will I need for that? Also, are any changes that need to be made to the PC output to enable the image to display properly on a 16:9 50" Plasma display via Component input? Thank you

This can be externally powered with a 5v 500mA power supply. It will allow pass through from the differnt video signals, however the component output itself is only standard definition. To take better advantage of the resolution of your plasma, you might consider an HDTV adapter like the SW-4280
