I have a HP 5300C Scanjet it has a 25pin parallel connection, I need a parallel to USB, which is the correct cable to buy

Unfortunately USB to parallel adapters only work for printers. Scanners cannot be adapted to work on USB. That scanner must be plugged into a true parallel port for it to work. If you are trying to install the scanner on a desktop computer you can install a card like this one: Parallel PCI Card If you are trying to install it on a laptop that has a PCMCIA slot you can use this one: Parallel PCMCIA Card If you are trying to install it on a laptop that has an ExpressCard slot you can use this one: Parallel ExpressCard Those should be able to provide full functionality with your scanner.
