Customer Question

I need a USB extension cable to plug into the USB port on the front of my CPU tower. The port works when I plug various different brands of thumb drives into it. I have stepped on the thumb drive a couple of times (my tower is on the floor), so I want a cable to plug into the port and then plug the thumb drive into the cable and set it out of the way. I have tried a couple of different brands of cables, but neither is recognized. According to MY COMPUTER, I do have a USB 2.0 port. I only need a short cable--the two I have tried were 6 feet long. No one at Fry's has a clue why the extension cables won't work. Awhile back, I did have an extension cable plugged in and it worked--but I can't find that one now. I need to get this figured out, and I would be happy, happy to purchase two cables from your company if someone there might be able to point me in the right direction. I don't really want to buy more cables that don't do anything. My computer has an enhanced host controller. Thank you in advance for your help.

Sewell Direct Answer

As long as your USB ports have not been physically damaged (stepping on the USB drives while connected may have hurt the ports themselves) This should work for you. The cable itself is passive thus will not be reconized by the comptuer, however once you connect the flash drives to the receptacle end of the cable they should install as usual and show up in "My Computer"
