Can I use a Windows software that controls external devices using the parallel port, setting and resetting the DB25 8-bit Data pins ? I'll be in NYC in a few weeks, any place where to buy it there ?

USB parallel ports, including this one, install as USB printing support and not as an LPT port. This type of port only works with printing commands and will not work for any other type of parallel communication. All of our products are shipped when ordered. We don't have any local retailers you could pick it up at.
