I already have this tuner card. The problem is the video quality through my basic cable is horrible, grainy and very annoying. What am i doing wrong?

Actually, you aren't doing anything wrong. This tuner only supports basic cable, or standard definition cable like what you are using. This type of video signal runs at a very low resolution. When you take that low resolution image and put it on a high resolution computer monitor, you can suddenly see all of the imperfections in the signal because the monitor is so much clearer. A standard definition TV only runs the resolution of the cable signal and in a sense blurs/softens the image a bit which hides the graininess of the picture. In order to avoid that graininess and other imperfections in the signal you must use high definition TV channels. You can either use an ATSC Tuner to get the channels that are broadcast free over the air, or you can upgrade to HD Cable and get a QAM tuner for your computer that will support it.View More Questions
