  • Hi, what kind of protocol is it working on? I'm using a Linux PDA (Nokia N800) and want to output the video.
    • This device simply takes a VGA input and gives you a composite video for your TV. The N800 appears to not have any video out options. Without a VGA out port, you would not be able to use this to connect your PDA to your TV.

  • Will it work to convert a standard RCA video output to play on a computer LCD screen with only a VGA input?
    • The PC to TV converter goes the opposite direction from what you are describing. It will go from a computer and output to an RCA connection on the TV. If you want to display an RCA source onto a VGA monitor you would need to use a standalone TV Tuner. Something like our Standalone Computer Monitor TV Tuner, part SW-4677 would work just fine. That part will take your RCA source and convert it to VGA to be displayed on your computer monitor.

  • I was in Radio Shack last week and they said that USB is not a reliable way to do my power point from laptop to TV. Was this just a pitch to get me to spend $100 on a non USB solution?
    • There are several solutions to display your computer's contents on a TV. Many of them have different advantages and drawbacks. This adapter admittedly will not give you a picture as sharp as your computer monitor, but it has the advantages of being simple, portable and inexpensive. With applications like PowerPoint, the images and text is usually large enough that you can sacrifice some of the clarity for the other advantages.

  • I am not a technician. In simple terms tell me how to send pc programs, ballgames, movies, etc to my tv. Please make it simple. Do you sell the equipment needed for this project. Also, I find numerous sites online that sell software packages containing 1000's of channels. Do you have recommendation for software packages of this type. Thank you for your response. Lowell
    • The PC to TV converter box will connect essentially 'between' your computer and monitor, and give you an additional output to the TV. So you can still use the montior and the TV at the same time. Then just run an RCA (yellow) or S-Video (round with 4 pins) cable to the comptuer. The sound will still come from the computer speakers unless you get a cable like the SW-8536 That with the SW-4262 contains all of the cables that you need to connect everything up to about 10 feet away. This kind of conversion is not recommended for text based programs (llike word processing, spreadsheets, etc) but works welll for pictures and videos. As far as channel packages, I'm afraid that we don't have any recomendations. I would suggest looking for reviews on the packages you are interested in.

  • can you use a lap top computer and watch a ball game from you lap top to a Tv the Tv is about 8 years old
    • Yes, this would work for you as long as your TV has a composite (yellow RCA) input. (note that audio would need to be sent on a separate cable like the SW-7921-12)
