Converter/Switcher
This particular converter has an added switcher feature. This means that it is compatible with either 10Base or 100Base. 10Base and 100Base can transfer at 10mbps and 100mbps respectively. Because of the speed difference, a regular media converter could only maintain either 10Base or 100Base. Fortunately, Intellinet has developed this Converter/Switcher to maintain either speeds without network lag or colliding signals.
Fiber Optic and RJ45
This Media Converter allows you to use your existing RJ45 connectors and translates the signal into an SC fiber optic signal. Then you would use another converter to switch back to RJ45. Because fiber optic uses light waves to transmit signals, it is resistant to electromagnetic interference and distortion. This means you will never receive slower, lost, or jumbled signals because of the converters or the distance. This ensures you a perfect clear signal every time.
Single-Mode
This converter is a single-mode converter which means retains higher fidelity of the signals over longer distances. Single mode uses a higher bandwidth than multi-mode fibers which mean it can carry a larger signal with the same distance. Single-mode itself can transmit data at a rate of 10 Gigabits.
