  • I need to convert an RCA source to a VGA or DVI dsplay or go from SVGA to VGA or DVI
    • SVGA and VGA are essentially the same thing when it comes to video connections. Just plug them into each other with a vga cable and you should be fine. If you need to come from a Component RCA source, use our Component to VGA Video converter.

  • I have a Mac mini G4 with DVI output, can i use this adaptor to see my computer through the component input (RGB) of my TV 37 1080 p sharp aquos?
    • This adapter can only output a component signal when the computer's DVI port can natively output a component signal. These adapters do not convert the signal they just adapt the plug so that you can properly use the signal coming from the DVI port. Unfortunately Mac Minis, from our experience, do not support outputting a component signal through the DVI port. You may want to double check with Apple to see if it does or does not support that. In most cases you would need to use our PC to HDTV Converter. That will take a VGA signal (which the Mac Minis do support) and convert it to a proper component signal.

  • could i connect a ps3 to this adapter w/component cables, then to the dvi-in port on my lcd monitor? or would that type of hook-up require a transcoder?
    • Generally the answer is no, although there are a very small number of DVI inputs out there that could read component signals. Those few exceptions are usually found on projectors and not on LCDs. If you have a very high-end LCD, you might look at the Display's specifications to see if it allows a component input through DVI.

  • Will this transfer signal from component to DVI as well? or is it just one way?
    • If you have a DVI input that can read a component signal (for example many projectors have multi function DVI inputs) This will work in both directions. It is a passive adapter so it will not change the signal itself, just the connectors.
