Plenum Cable
Plenum cable is laid down in the plenum spaces of buildings. It is typically the space used for air circulation systems between the structural ceiling and the suspended ceiling or under a raised floor.
Laying cable in this area is a serious hazard because in the event of a fire there is little to stop smoke and fire from circulating around the building. Plenum cable is therefore coated with a special fire/smoke retardant and must pass rigorous government tests in accordance with NFPA 262.
In addition to passing these standards, this bulk cable exceeds the TIA/EIA-568-B.2-1 standard for Cat 6 data transfer. Its durable PVC jacket houses 4 pairs of colored UTP wiring to make 1000 feet of spooled high-performing network cable. It is packed neatly in a knockout box for easy dispensing.
