Let's face it, kids these days require so much more to be entertained. Today's kids are not like all of us who grew up in the 80s on recycled Johnny Quest and Scooby Doo cartoons. Kids expect an experience not too dissimilar to going to Disneyland when they are Trick-or-Treating these days. At least that's what this customer of Sewell Direct went for, creating his very own animatronics showcase that is very reminiscent to me of the Haunted House at Disneyland:

If you're wanting to go the extra mile (or 150 feet) and have a Halloween display more impressive than the traditional cotton spider web (my personal choice), you're probably going to need some signal extending method. If you're running something like this set-up off your computer via USB, you're either going to have to sit outside in the dark with your laptop to control the display, or get a USB extender since USB is only guaranteed to work over 16 feet of cable unless you use an extender.

We have several different types of USB extenders. The one used in the above display was a USB over Cat5 extender. He needed 75 feet of extension, and for this application, only needed USB 1.1 transfer speeds. This product includes both sender and receiver units connected by a single Cat5 Cable. Cat5 is a preferred means of extending lots of different digital signals that have distance limitations because of its relatively low cost and ease of installation.

We also carry shorter extenders, like this USB Active Extension Cable which allows your USB run to be at least twice as long. It is a 16 ft. cable with a built-in repeater and can be connected to another 16 ft USB cable with reliable results.
