Share Devices Without a Network

Not many of us are really savvy when it comes to networking. If you would still like to have multiple devices hooked up to multiple computers you do have options without having to even use your network.

One of the most common requests in this area is the desire to connect one or more printers to one or more computers. We have a great line of USB share switches.

One commonly requested product is an Auto Share Switch. These products allow you to print from different computers without having to manually tell the switch who is going to be printing next. A good example is our part SW-2203. It comes with great software that is easy to use. Simply install the software on any computer that will be connected to the switch. Keep the software up and running and it will take care of the switching.

Some of us would prefer not to use software and to keep things even more simple. A USB Manual Share Switch is a good product for that scenario. A good example of this type of switch is our part SW-2201. Simply run a USB A to USB B cable from each computer into this switch. Then run another USB A to USB B cable from the switch to your printer and now you have the ability to print from two different locations without having to disconnect and reinstall your printer. Switching between computers is as simple as entering the hot key that is mentioned in the instructions, or pushing the button on the switch.

It is worth mentioning that with the Manual Switches, you can easily share data from one or more hard drives to one or more computers. It’s a simple way to get data to multiple computers in the house. The set up is just like when using the switches for printing. When you manually switch to a new computer the computer will alert you to the fact that a new drive has been found.
