The emerging netbook market is really exciting. Truly portable computing is finally becoming affordable, and elegant. I recently purchased an Asus 900, which I'm really happy with but I have had a hard time finding a good bag for it. I'm assuming that people with other similar small notebooks like the original EEE PCs, Cloudbook, MSI Wind etc. have had similar frustrations.
I looked around and found very limited selection of bags designed for the netbooks or subnotebooks, so I thought I would try a more creative solution. Here are the options that I am looking at:
I think this is a great all-around bag. There are lots of pockets and compartments. The 900 fits well in the main compartment (Even with the Asus faux-suede sleeve that came in the box) and has an extra spot for a cell phone, PDA (which I would use for my external hard drive) a headphone slot for a PMP and a few other handy pockets. The construction and materials seem rugged and it’s pretty well padded. For a small messenger bag, I think it looks good, not quite 'black tie', but a good everyday bag.
Due to high stock levels, this bag is currently on clearance to clear out some inventory, which makes it a great buy. Although it was designed for a specific device, it actually makes a nice, business ready miniature laptop bag. It comes with a shoulder strap, and has a classy simple look to it. Not a ton of pockets and compartments, but plenty of room for a subnote and a few essentials. The case is padded and seems to be sturdy.
