Display Port

DisplayPort is a system that carries both the audio and video signals over a single cable connection, very similarly to HDMI. DisplayPort's single connector has 20 pins on it that are used to carry all of the audio and video information. This allows it to carry signals for up to 8 audio channels and resolutions much higher than current full HD resolutions on your HDTV. DisplayPort cables also support a locking connection with a simple pushbutton release. This allows the cable to stay latched into your equipment, but easily released by pushing a button on the cable end.
There is another version of DisplayPort known as Mini-DisplayPort. It has the same functionality as the standard DisplayPort, but has a smaller interface. This connection is most commonly found on laptops or other devices where there is a limited amount of room for ports.

Conversions
Simple conversions reqire only a passive adapter or cable, there is no active conversion simply different pinouts of the same signals.
Complex conversions require active circutry to convert the signal, to change it to the new signal. These often only work one-way.
Simple
- DisplayPort to HDMI
- Displayport to DVI
- Mini-Displayport to HDMI
- Mini-Displayport to DVI
- Mini-Displayport to VGA - For this adapter to work your video source must fully support outputting an analog VGA video signal. Please check with your equipment documentation to verify this.
Complex
With how new DisplayPort is, we don't yet have any complex or active converters for DisplayPort equipment.
