A popular line of fantastic video processors come from DVDO in their iScan series. For home users, I suggest the VP30. Now this runs about $1,000 dollars, so it isn’t for casual home theater users. (If any part of your home theater system is a hand-me-down from your mom… you should probably just keep doing what you are doing—I’m sure it is great) but if you are serious about your home theater setup and have invested some money into it. This will really be the icing on the cake.

The VP30 sports nearly a dozen different video inputs, 4 HDMI, two component, two composite, two S-video, an RGBHV, and even an optional SD-SDI input (call us if you need SDI—Wait, what are you doing with SDI equipment?) It also has a healthy dose of Audio inputs: two digital coaxial inputs, a pair of toslink (optical) connectors, and a good ‘ol red and white RCA pair, of course that is besides the four HDMI inputs.

And you can send all that entertainment out to your TV through a single, simple HDMI cable. Just picture that one, pretty cable. Kind of amazing. Anyway, you can also use RGBHV if that is your cup of tea, (projector?) and don’t forget your surround sound receiver, we wouldn’t let that get lonely, Audio out comes in both digital coaxial and optical flavors for superior sound quality.

So far, this sounds just like any other receiver right? The real magic happens between all those ports. Because of DVDO’s commitment to the mantra “Any res in, any res out” All of those inputs will come formatted, packaged and practically gift wrapped to whatever your TV likes best. No more clumsy input switching on the TV, no more fighting with the aspect ratio, no more sacrifice in quality. Go ahead, break out your old SNES, it’ll look great (well, as great as an SNES can, but the nostalgia will make up the rest). Upscaling, downscaling, deinterlacing, transcoding, zooming, you name it, the VP30 does it… and does it well. You can set it to letterbox, widescreen, fullscreen, or even custom aspect ratios, and everything will come out the way you want it. I’ll say it again… amazing.
