Accordance's popular ARAID 1000 is now available in this convenient plug and play external IDE unit. This ARAID 1000 external unit is a RAID 1 dual disk controller that provides automatic disk mirroring so you never lose data from a crash.
How it Works
Simply plug the ARAID 1000 unit into any available IDE connector on your computer or server. Your computer will see the ARAID as a single hard drive, when in fact the ARAID is independently busy maintaining two drives simultaneously, mirroring 100% (RAID 1) of the data on both drives. If either of the 3.5 inch hard drives in the ARAID fails, the second hard drive will function as the primary hard drive until the failed drive is finished rebuilding.
Simply put one 3.5 inch internal IDE hard drive in each of the ARAID's drive bays (total of 2 3.5 inch IDE drives, not included). Once each drive is installed (a process that takes several minutes), you will instantly have an external hard drive and sophisticated enterprise level data back-up. The enclosure includes an LCD display that shows statistics on the health of each drive and the percentage completion of rebuilds.
RAID 1 for Data Redundancy
The ARAID mirrors data by writing all data on both drives. The ARAID only imposes a 4% overhead on the computer system's processor because all tasks are performed and controlled by the hardware.
Additional Management Aids
ARAIDEye is a program for windows used for monitoring the ARAID, providing drive operation status, fan speed, and temperature status. The ARAID connects to the serial port on the computer and the program uses Windows GUI to display status information.
Accordance also supplies an SNMP Agent (Simple Network Management Protocol) which provides management for Accordance's OpManager, HP's OpenView, and IBM's NetView.
