MustachePower - As Advertised 6/21/2010 11:51:47 AM | |
Pros: Very easy to use on a mac. Recognized as a camera by all apps that use quicktime components.I also loved the fact that it's so small and USB powered. Makes it very easy to take with me to capture presenter screens at conferences and events. Cons: The lower frame rates at higher resolutions combined with the interlaced sampling makes any moving images look pretty jagged. None of my presenters wanted to lower their resolutions to 640x480, so I need something better with progressive sampling and higher frame rates. Other Comments: Though this device does what it says, I opted to return it to upgrade to the Epiphan VGA2PCIe card. It was a tough decision between that and the similarly priced VGA2USB LR. We'll see how that goes. Was this review helpful? Yes - NoHelpful to 3 out of 3 people voting. Permalink

mindjuju - An excellent framegrabber 5/4/2010 10:09:57 AM | |
Pros: This device has worked flawlessly for me. I use it to record presentations (please note, audio is recorded through a mic / mixer as this device doesn't handle audio). It is lightweight, appears to be rugged (i've treated it like gold, so i don't really know how rugged it is). I've used it to record all platforms, mac, linux and windows without a problem. The linux driver requires somebody to know linux well to get it to work, but windows usage is very easy. Cons: none Was this review helpful? Yes - NoHelpful to 2 out of 2 people voting. Permalink

JSC - Used for the Big Show. 1/31/2011 8:32:52 AM | |
Pros: Does what is says it does. Easy to use. If you record the session, keep the file size a little smaller than the recommended playback size. It is true that most players will not accept a large file size.
I use the device to capture presentations that were also shared over Live Meeting. The set up was three computers going through a KVM. The KVM output went through a Amp/Splitter with the main output going to a projecter and the other to the VGA2USB device. The computer connected to the VGA2USB device was recording the session via the provided software and the recording window was shared to the viewing audience via Live Meeting. Worked like a charm.
