  • My question is I'm planning to use this for a 9 pin adapter programmer. Do I need a installation CD as a driver so I can use this model?
    • Yes this does require a driver for the serial port functionality. The CD is included in the packaging.

  • How do you install the printer with this adapter?
    • First connect the adapter to your computer, then connect the parallel cable to the DB25 port. Your computer should recognize the printer and begin the installation automatically. Insert the printer driver CD (if necessary) and install the printer's driver. Your computer will see the printer as if it were a USB printer.

  • Do you have a usb to serial cable convertor that will work with a Symbols LS4004 gun. Several years ago it did not but I have been told there is a converter that is compatable please advise.
    • It's hard to guarantee compatibility with any particular product, however we do have a few options. We have a few different chipsets of USB adapters, this and the SW-1301 use the Prolific chipset. We also have some adatpers that use the FTDI chipset like the SW-1314. You could also try an add-on card, which usually have more compatibility.

  • I have at this time a Keyspan USB to Serial / Parallel adapter for my Toshiba note book. I am running XP Pro on the computer. I need to run a couple of DOS based programs for programming comerical two way radio that won't run at all under XP. So I installed Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 and the installed two virtual machines (DOS 6.22 and WinME). Both run fine but can not find the ports on the Keyspan unit. Looking for somthing I can use that is found by the computers BIOS. Any ideas? Wayne
    • This adapter would work similarly to the Keyspan USB adapter that you already have. Depending on your laptop, a better solution for you might be an ExpressCard or a Was this answer helpful? Yes - No

  • Can I use a Windows software that controls external devices using the parallel port, setting and resetting the DB25 8-bit Data pins ? I'll be in NYC in a few weeks, any place where to buy it there ?
    • USB parallel ports, including this one, install as USB printing support and not as an LPT port. This type of port only works with printing commands and will not work for any other type of parallel communication. All of our products are shipped when ordered. We don't have any local retailers you could pick it up at.
