  • Will this work with my MAC to a HP4550. I bought just a USB to DB25 female cable from you, thinking I could hook it into the old cable. That did not work, the computer sees the printer, but does not want to print to it. I have been able to right after a computer reboot but that is the only success I have had so far.
    • This cable does work with macs, but the issue is usually whether or not the printer is compatible with macs. If your printer is having problems you may need to contact the printer manufacturer in order to find out whether it is Mac compatible or not.

  • I have an HP LaserJet 1100 printer. I cant find the original printer cable. My new computer has only USB ports. What cable and adapter will I need to make this printer work with a USB only computer?
    • The cable you were inquiring about, the USB to Mini Centronics cable set, should be exactly what you need to connect an HP LaserJet 1100 printer into a USB port. This part will connect to the smaller Mini Centronics type connection on the printer and will connect to the USB port on the computer. This will work as long as you don't have the version of the LaserJet 1100 that has a built in copier or scanner.

  • I have a LaserJet 3150 all-in-one function machine with IEEE 1284-1995 parellel serial cable. Recently I purchased a new laptop (Windows XP) with only USB ports, no parallel port. I do have the LaserJet 3100 series software CD for Windows XP. Will the USB to Mini Centronics Combo-Set be compatible with notebook and HP all-in-one? If not, what will work? Thank you for your help.
    • Unfortunately, All-In-One printers that do not have a built in USB port cannot be adapted to work on USB. You would need to install a true parallel port into the computer. If your computer has an ExpressCard slot in it you could use the Quatech Parallel Express Card, part SW-8662.

  • I have a HP Laserjet 3100 which I want to use as a printer. Will this cable set work?
    • I believe that the 3100 is an all-in-one printer, in which case it will not be compatible with a USB adatper. USB adapters can only handle simple printing functions, all-in-one printers install more like a switch or hub and in the majority of cases the USB adatper cannot comunicate correctly. (even for printing only) If you have a desktop computer you can get a parallel add-on card that will give you full support.
