  • I have an HP 1100 LaserJet I need cable to go from the printer cable to USB. This is not a Centronics connector This is a DB25 pin male
    • Yes, this would connect to the original cable that came with your 1100. It should work for you (unless you are uising the all-in-one series 1100 with scanner/copier funcctions)

  • You said part # SW-4518 works for the 1100, and not with 1100a (all-in-one). Then, what would I use for the 1100a (all-in-one) which also has the DB25 male pin on the end of its printer cable?
    • All-in-one parallel printers are never supported by USB conversions. There are parallel print servers you can buy which support multi-function printers, and that is probably the best option if you need multi function capability out of your existing printer on a new computer. Often(but not always) these usb conversions will still work with the printer functionality of the all in one printer, but they will never work with the scanner functionality.

  • I have an HP model 4ML printer connected to my PC using your SW-4518 USB-to-DB25 cable. The computer detects the device when I plug it in, but the printer does not respond. Do you have any suggestions?
    • Here is the basic troubleshooting for this cable: start with the adapter unplugged on both ends. With the computer ON, plug in the USB end of the cable. In your device manager (which can be found through the control panel) look under the Universal serial bus section for "USB printing support" or something similar. If it is there without any exlamation points or question marks next to it, the cable is working fine. Next plug your printer into the cable. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your printer installed on your computer. Go to your 'printers' folder, where you should see your printer. If it says it is offline, right click on it and select properties. Go to the ports tab. "Virtual printer port" or "USB printing support" should be selected. If you have multiple ports with that name, delete all but the most recent and select it. Click OK and then try printing again. 9 out of 10 times these steps fix people's problems.

  • Do you make or have a DB25-pin(male) to USB cable?
    • While we don't carry a DB25 Male to USB cable, we do offer a DB25 gender changer that you can use with this cable in order to transform it into a DB25 male end.

  • I have an HP C4100 printer and an HP 1117 printer. I need cables to connect them to my new lap top. can you tell me which ones need and do you carry them?
    • I wasn't able to find any information on an HP 1117 Printer, so I'm not sure how you would connect that. As to the C4100 it is a USB printer so should be compatible with current laptops. The cable that you'd use to connect it is most likely a USB Device cable.
