  • i have a directv hd dvr model hr20 do i have to record the programs in standard to download to my laptop or can i still record in HD and download to my pc?
    • This TV capture card will only accept standard definition signals. So your DVR must be outputting a standard definition signal to this card. A lot of DVRs will let you record in high definition then use the standard definition composite signal to output a standard definition signal to a unit like this, even though the programs were recorded in high definition. You'll need to check on the abilities of your DVR to see if that is an option.

  • can i use this to watch/record previously recorded content from my direct tv plus HD DVR?
    • You would not be able to view any content in HD, but you could use this to view/record standard definition content through your box's s-video or composite (yellow red and white) rca output.
