  • Do both outputs have to be on?
    • No, it doesn't require that both units are on at the same time. YOu can have just one or both displays powered on.

  • i have a samsung 1080p and a samsung 720p HDTV. i have the 1080p connected to a sony home theatre system and digital cablebox. the 720p is about 35ft away by the bar area when i use the 1x2 HDMI splitter will the 1080p keep its resolution? or will it show a 720p picture? i read a prior question but it's a little confusing. and will i be able to just turn on the bar TV without the other and still get cable channels? thnx
    • Splitters will always only display at the lower resolution capable of all the displays connected. With TVs being in Standby when they are "powered off" they are still sending a signal back letting the video source know what resolution the display is capable of. So if 2 displays are connected to the splitter and one display is capable of 1080p and the other display is only capable of 720p both TVs will always display a 720p video no matter what.

  • I have one hdmi cable through my wall to the tv and a blue ray and Direct Tv HD in a cabinet 25 ft away. Can I run 2 imputs and one output, so long as I only have one source on at a time?
    • The SW-23500 is a splitter only. It is not a switch and it is not a Bi-directional switch either. If you want to have 2 sources to 1 display you would need something like our SW-8876. With the SW-8876 you can do either 1 in and 2 out or 2 in and 1 out.

  • I am considering using the SW-23500 to split the HDMI signal from my sony blu ray player and sending one output to my HDTV and sending the other output to my ONKYO receiver for audio only. I want to be able to enjoy True HD or DTS Master HD audio on the sound system and full 1080P video on the HDTV without using HDMI between the receiver and tv. It looks like this will work but I am concerned about the audio/video syncronization.
    • The splitter will out put the lowest common denominator for both video signal and audio signal. So if your tv is only capable of handling a very basic audio signal, then that same basic signal will be sent to your receiver as well as the tv. You may just consider going directly into the receiver from your video source and then out put from the reciever to the tv. If you would still like a product that helps splitting please contact us with more information and we will make the best recommendation for you.

  • Does this device have it's own EDID info that it reports back to the source device, or does it report back the EDID info of one of the connected displays? I currently have a splitter that always reports back the EDID info of whatever is plugged into port 1. This is the behavior I need, but I need it in a 1.3b splitter (my current one is only 1.2)
    • This splitter gathers the EDID information from the displays and then compiles a new EDID that the splitter then sends back to the source.
