Doug - PTC 2 port USB2.0 Switch

Pros: Great purchase. My requirement was to share a printer, and found the two O/S versions I had would not permit network sharing. I read about problems with automatic detect switches for PCs running differnt O/S, and opted for the mechanical A/B switch. Took only a few seconds to install, and works perfectly every time. I highly recommend the mechanical switch for devices which you cannot share in another manner. Small (about 1" x4" footprint) ... compact ... inexpensive, and provides reliable instant mechanical switching.

Cons: No cons. Functions exactly as expected.

Other Comments: About the cables needed (which is true for all switches): Make sure you have extra USB cables to make the connections. Just in case you have never wired A/B switches, it requires one cable to connect the shared device to the switch, and then two cables to connect the switch to each of the two devices which do the sharing. You will need a total of three standard USB cables.

Pros: Super easy setup, super easy to use and just the right size and shape for the space available.

Cons: None.

Other Comments: Couldn't be happier. I have a MAC and a PC sharing one printer and was getting tired of switching the USB cables all the time. Just wanted a simple, uncomplicated and inexpensive switch. This one is perfect! And being vertical makes it much more convenient to reach and use in the tight space I have to work with.

Pros: plugged it in and pushed the button and it worked. It sits right next to the printer so it is easy to switch between computers.

Cons: you have to push a button to switch computer connections.

Other Comments: I labeled the to buttons so my wife would not have to remember which computer is #1 and #2.

Pros: I have been looking for a simple switch so that 2 computers could use one printer. The folks at Circuit City said they weren't aware of such an item. I used one 10 years ago so I figured they were still available. It's especially important because one computer is a Mac, the other an HP PC. The switch is very effective.

Cons: None.
