Manhattan LCD TV Converter/Tuner Reviews - 176156

Pros: The tuner in my 2 year old $1000 purchase price 27" LCD TV was misbehaving, and the company that made it is out of Biz. Purchased the Manhatten tuner with remote w/volume control to "get my tv back" as opposed to chucking it...all works perfectly through my VGA input, and sound input. Excellent quality and design. Well worth the $$.

Cons: That I did not find it sooner...I had purchased another LCD TV in the mean time until I could find a tuner to slve my problem.

Pros: The units design is terrific ~ Has all the required inputs & outputs that anyone would need to make a PC LCD Monitor function as a TV Monitor. The Picure quality provided by the Manhattan converter to the PC LCD Monitor is first rate.

Cons: The Remote control is a bit hard to handle, due to its slim size for my hands. the original battery is difficult to install and appears to be dead when I tried to use the unit. On the positive side, the Manhattan converter was able to be controlled by the Verizon Set top Box remote control unit, so everything works together great.

Other Comments: Overall, the unit is great, I ordered two hoping that this would work out, and I was not disappointed at all. Thanks for the Recommendation by your staff.

Pros: The 8181 provides outputs that allow the unit to be placed in any situation where one might otherwise have planned for a standard computer; this being the VGA output for picture and the 1/4" stereo jack for audio. The picture is decent and the on-board controls permit use without digging out the remote.

Cons: Audio hum is a problem. Using advanced equipment to isolate ground loops might help, but I have not had a chance to prove this.

Other Comments: As the unit works out of the box we tried placing this in a school with a short VGA cord and a 50ft audio cord to the PA system. The hum was so bad we could not use it at all. Then we relocated the unit beside the PA system with 50ft of VGA cord and a 2ft audio cord to the PA. The hum was at a much lower level, but still quite audible and annoying. The unit was advertised as being a good solution for schools. It doesn't strike me as a unit designed for commercial/industrial/school installation.

Pros: Was an excellent piece of equipment and reasonably priced. I would recommend to anyone. Setup was very easy...plug and play.

Cons: Had to wait for my equipment to arrive via the mail.
